At TestaScreen, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our website. This privacy policy explains our data practices, your rights, and how we comply with applicable regulations including the GDPR.

2. Data Collection

Most of TestaScreen works without any personal data. We only receive personal data when you choose to send it: the email address and message you enter in the contact form, and the email address you enter to receive your used laptop check results. With your consent, Google Analytics and Google AdSense also collect usage data, as described below.

3. How It Works

All tests run directly in your browser. No data is sent to our servers. You have complete privacy and control.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We do not use cookies or any form of local storage to track your behavior. We do not set any tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or marketing cookies.

Consent Banner & Cookie Management

TestaScreen implements a GDPR-compliant cookie consent system. When you first visit the site, a cookie consent banner appears at the bottom of your screen. This banner allows you to make informed decisions about cookie usage before any personalized cookies are loaded.

How Our Consent System Works:

• Analytics Cookies: Google Analytics uses cookies to measure website usage and improve performance. Only loaded if you consent to analytics cookies.
• Preference Cookies: TestaScreen currently sets no preference cookies.

5. External Services

We use Google Fonts for typography. While we strive to minimize data transfer, Google may receive requests from your browser to our server. For the strictest privacy, you may disable JavaScript for font loading or use a privacy-focused browser.

5a. Advertising and Revenue

TestaScreen uses Google AdSense to display advertisements on this website. These ads help fund the development and maintenance of our free tools.

Important: Google AdSense personalized ads are only loaded after you explicitly consent to marketing cookies through our consent banner. We do not load personalized ad-serving scripts before receiving your consent.

How Google AdSense works (when you consent):

• Google stores cookies and pixels to identify your browsing interests and preferences
• Ads shown are tailored to your profile, which may help you see more relevant advertisements
• You can control these settings using Google's Ad Settings at myaccount.google.com/ads
• You can also opt out of personalized advertising entirely through your browser privacy settings or third-party tools like aboutads.info
• You can modify your consent at any time by updating your preferences through our consent banner

If you don't consent to marketing cookies: AdSense will display non-personalized ads. Google will still show ads, but they won't be tailored to your interests or browsing history.

TestaScreen receives a portion of revenue when you click on or view advertisements. This is our primary funding model for keeping the tools free and accessible to everyone worldwide.

6. Microphone, camera and keyboard tests

Our microphone, webcam and keyboard tests run entirely in your browser. Audio, video and keystrokes are processed on your own device and are never uploaded, recorded on our servers, or shared with anyone.

Your browser asks for permission before a test can use your microphone or camera. You can withdraw that permission at any time through the settings in your browser's address bar. The microphone and camera switch off as soon as you stop the test or leave the page.

A short recording made with the Mic Test, or a snapshot made with the Webcam Test, exists only in your browser's memory. It disappears when you refresh or close the page, unless you choose to download it yourself.

The Click Speed Test stores your best score in your browser's local storage, on your device only. You can remove it by clearing your browser data.

6a. Used laptop check results by email

When you ask for your used laptop check results by email, we receive your email address, the OK and Problem marks you made, and the rounded hardware details shown on the page. We use them to send you that one email, and a copy reaches our own mailbox so we can see how the check is used.

We only email you again if you ticked the box for updates about new tools, and every such email lets you unsubscribe. You can ask us to delete your address at any time through the contact page.

To keep spam bots out, the contact form and the email form of the used laptop check use Cloudflare Turnstile. It only loads on pages with one of these forms, and checks your browser for signs of automation (for example your IP address and browser details) without cookies for advertising. Cloudflare processes this data only to tell people and bots apart.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of Access: You have the right to obtain confirmation of whether your data is processed and to access that data.
• Right of Rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate personal data concerning you.
• Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You can request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances.
• Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.

Contact messages and laptop check emails are kept in our mailbox only as long as we need them to reply or to send what you asked for. If you ticked the box for updates about new tools, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Results produced by the tools themselves stay on your device.

We take security seriously. All data processing occurs on your device. When visiting our website, we use HTTPS encryption to protect the integrity of communications between your browser and our server.
